Environmental Protection Agency does not transfer the ability to decide on the licensed hunting of wolves to the county administrative boards. The Swedish wolf population has declined over the past three years and the scope for hunting license is non-existent in relation to maintaining the favorable conservation status.

According to the last count of wolves in Sweden reduces the Swedish wolf population. It is now at the limit of what is considered favorable conservation - the condition to be achieved for a species for it to be maintained in the long term. The trend for the population is declining, it is the third consecutive year of declining population numbers.

Least 300 wolves to maintain a favorable conservation status
EPA estimates that a delegation of licensed hunting of wolves would be irrelevant because the space for the hunting license is non-existent. There will not be any decision on licensing the hunt for wolves from the Environmental Protection Agency for the coming hunting season. This position will be reviewed 2019 extrinsic wolf inventory.
